Dear Canyon Creek Families,
It has been a start of school like no other! I am so grateful to partner with and work alongside such an amazing, student-centered community. Each day we have the opportunity to serve our students on campus is a gift, and I look forward to the tremendous learning and growth we will see from each of our students this year.
Heading into the year, we knew that school would look different than previous years, yet our students have done an amazing job transitioning back to a shared learning environment with their peers. As was the case in the spring hybrid model, our students have responded incredibly well to the procedural and operational safety measures put in place to keep them, their families and staff safe. Much like any effort in an elementary school, we ensure that students understand procedures and routines through explicit teaching, modeling, encouragement and reinforcement. I would like to commend our teachers and staff as they continue to ensure safety measures are adhered to while keeping the warm, welcoming spirit of the elementary classroom at the center. While I am encouraged by our strong start, we know there will be challenges ahead. Thank you for your partnership and continued support while we do all we can to make this a powerful and impactful year of learning and growth for each of our Coyotes.
Like other years, we have welcomed some new staff to the school. Our Assistant Principal, Ali Airhart became Principal at Crystal Springs Elementary. Brandi Doyle will now be working as our full time Assistant Principal and we welcome Nico Bonder as our part time Assistant Principal as he splits his time as Assistant Principal between Canyon Creek and Skyview. We are also happy to welcome these new staff members to Canyon Creek:
New and returning staff have all been working long hours to make this a great year. While some of our procedures and routines may change the way we usually do school, being with our students in person has been wonderful. It is exciting to get back to the (more or less) regular routine of school and enjoy some of the events that help establish the rhythm of the school year. We are looking forward to our Fun Run this Thursday!
I hope that 2021-22 is a fun and healthy year for your children and your whole families. We have an amazing year of learning and growth ahead of us!
